A small town with a quaint, village-like feel, Bethany Beach rests between the Atlantic and Delaware Route 1. On both sides of the highway are mostly single-family homes, but there are some townhomes available. The center of town stands along a two-block stretch of Garfield Parkway between Route 1 and the ocean. It hosts quaint shops that offer clothing, coffee, arcades, candy, books and much more. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day trolleys provide easy access for residents and visitors alike. Dining options abound, from the ultimate gourmet eateries to more casual cuisine, such as hamburgers, deluxe barbecue, crabs, subs, Mexican and pizza. The .38 mile long boardwalk, far less commercial than its northern and southern neighbors, is a relaxed and casual gathering spot where free evening entertainment is a regular event during the season. Just west of the highway is the beautiful and recently-expanded library with its wonderful children's programs.
