South Bethany

South Bethany is composed of single family residences and one small group of townhouses. East of Route 1 stands a single block of homes, approximately one mile long, but the larger part of the community is west of the highway and consists mostly of canal front properties that are great for boating. Along the south and western edges of South Bethany are homes not only with waterfront access but with outstanding bay and marsh views. To the south you'll find several miles of the Delaware Seashore State Park system, which extends most of the way to Fenwick. There is a petite shopping center on the southern border with several eating establishments and some small shops, including the area’s finest gourmet market and deli. In years past, South Bethany has suffered from extensive beach erosion, but no more! The DNREC dune restoration project completed last year greatly enhanced both security and the quality of the beaches.
