The beaches at Bethany are rebounding from a pounding. Significant coastal storms last October and in January flattened the dunes and destroyed steps leading to the sand. Bethany Beach Vice-Mayor Lew Killmer, appearing on The Susan Monday Show, said the rebuild continues...
"The sand, as it normally does, started coming back in. DNREC has been pushing the sand as it comes back in to rebuild the beaches. The dunes we have, are the dunes we're going to have," Killmer said.
According to Killmer, steps also had to be reconstructed after the storm damage.
"We basically built all of the stairways from the cross-overs, where people would walk across a sand dune," Killmer added. "We made them as kid-friendly as possible."
