Happy Spring! Looking at the first four months of the year, the Fenwick Island real estate market has shown some slowdown compared to 2025—but there are important trends for property owners and buyers to keep in mind.

BETHANY BEACH

  • Dogs must be leashed and curbed at all times in Bethany Beach
  • Dogs are prohibited on the beach and boardwalk from May 15 to Sept 30

SOUTH BETHANY

  • No pets or other animals are permitted from May 15 to Oct 15

FENWICK ISLAND

  • No pets or other animals are permitted on the beach at anytime between May 1 and Sept 30

DEWEY BEACH

Third-grade students at Lord Baltimore Elementary School combined fun and learning during a Bike Safety Rodeo hosted by the Ocean View Police Department on April 16.

Organized in partnership with DelDOT, the event began with a classroom presentation led by OVPD Sgt. Rhys Bradshaw. He taught students key bicycle safety basics, including the importance of wearing properly fitted helmets.

Bradshaw introduced the “ABCs” of bike safety—checking air, brakes and chain—and reviewed essential rules of the road for young riders.

Bethany Beach’s colorful median flowers have become “a real crowd-pleaser,” Mayor Ron Calef said during this week’s Town Council meeting, expressing appreciation for Public Works staff and their “spectacular tulips and displays.”

Calef noted that both residents and visitors have been stopping to admire and photograph the displays, calling the response “incredible.” He also thanked Public Works employees for preparing the town for the busy summer season by powerwashing the bandstand and refurbishing boardwalk benches. Additional support is expected from DNREC workers, who are assisting with dune crossover maintenance and reconstruction.

Work is expected to begin soon on new pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection of Coastal Highway and Garfield Parkway, according to the town’s newsletter. The intersection is a busy corridor that experiences heavy foot and vehicle traffic, particularly during the summer months.

The project will include installing a new pedestrian crosswalk on the north side of the intersection, expanding access in an area where crossing options have been limited. Residents say the current setup has created challenges for pedestrians.

“It’s really difficult as a pedestrian, and I really worry about families, especially with small children,” said Michaela Greene.
